Tasks weren’t going my way—slow, incomplete, or different from what I imagined. I kept asking myself, “Why is this happening?” It wasn’t until I reflected on my vague instructions that I realised the problem wasn’t my team—it was me.
The Turning Point: Redesigning the Briefing
My manager asked me to show how I handled the daily briefing. The original template was too vague: “Clean the storage” didn’t specify sorting items, organising shelves, or cleaning steps. I doubted this would make a difference, yet I collaborated with my manager to create a highly detailed briefing template. Every step was clear, every expectation outlined.
The Revelation: How Clarity Builds Trust
The result was immediate—my team followed instructions exactly. I realised that my colleagues weren’t failing; they simply didn’t have enough information. From this, I learned that trust and effective teamwork come from precise communication, even when it feels tedious or time-consuming.
